Commissions

An original handmade work of art is the ultimate statement piece in any space; it can be the "wow factor" people first see when they step into your office; a beautiful memento of a treasured companion; a celebration of a favourite species or landscape, or the perfect gift for a loved one. And sometimes it's that last piece of the puzzle that completes your home.

Your art is entirely personal to you, so my commissions service includes one-to-one partnership throughout the process to bring your ideas to life.

I take commissions both for wildlife art and palaeoart in a range of media, including fine art pieces and large format installations. Whatever your project, please do get in touch and we can discuss your ideas and the inspiration behind them.

Pricing

The beauty of handmade original artworks is that no two are alike; and so my pricing for commissions is calculated and quoted on a case-by-case basis.

The examples given here provide an indication of pricing, but each piece is individually quoted according to its size, the medium used and the complexity of the subject.

Indicative pricing

Watercolour on archival heavy-stock watercolour paper A4 = £95

Watercolour on archival heavy-stock watercolour paper A3 = £190

Acrylics on stretched cotton canvas = £1 per sq. inch + material expenses

Oils on stretched cotton canvas = £1.50 per sq. inch + material expenses

What you'll receive

  1. A one-to-one call with me to discuss your idea, your inspiration and go over any details. I will provide a full written brief, specification and detailed quote shortly after this call, based on your requirements. A contract will be provided on that basis should you wish to go ahead with the project. A non-refundable 50% deposit is required for work to commence.

  2. A preparatory sketch (or a selection of sketches if the brief is more open) plus colour swatches (this is your opportunity to give full creative direction and request any changes to the layout, colour palette, etc).

  3. A digital mockup of the finished artwork indicating how the elements will be arranged (this is the time to lock in the details as it's our last chance to make any significant changes before painting begins).

  4. You'll receive weekly progress updates via email during the painting process. (I can only accommodate small adjustments during this phase, provided they are feasible and within scope)

  5. Once completed, you will receive detailed high-res images of your artwork for approval.

  6. If you wish to have your finished piece mounted, framed or varnished, this will be completed upon receipt of the final balance (please note that oil paintings will require extra time to dry fully before varnish can be applied) All canvas paintings come fitted with hooks and framer's cord, so they're ready to hang.

  7. Your original artwork will be packaged in acid-free materials and sent to you with its own certificate of authenticity (please see the Delivery & Returns page for more info)
